Caramel-Pecan Brownies

2/3 cup vanilla caramels
2 tbsp. milk
2 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans

In small saucepan, cook and stir caramels and milk over low heat until caramels are melted; set aside. Beat eggs; gradually beat in sugar. Blend in butter, caramel mixture and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients; stir into caramel mixture. Fold in pecans. Pour into 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake in 350-degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool; cut into bars.

Yield: 20 bars.
